About our School Counselling Service

London Young Counselling is the leading school counselling service. Started in London, our services are now operating nationwide.

At LYC we believe that all young people should have the opportunity to be able to see a counsellor in their times of need and to achieve this, we have created a service which is dedicated to providing a professional and accessible counselling service to young people based in their school.  We work closely with the school to ensure we are providing as much support as possible to students during their time with one of our counsellors.

London Young Counselling provide both long and short term support for young people. During the assessment session with the client, the counsellor will explain how the counselling service works and complete a confidentiality agreement outlining how we work with safeguarding. By completing an assessment form, counsellors are able to make sure they are providing an individual service to each young person. Throughout our counselling process, counsellors complete a strict admin process which allows us to consistently monitor the service. Once a counsellor has completed sessions with a client, the school will be given a case review form from the counsellor and a feedback form from the student.

Over the years, our case reviews and feedback forms have shown us and the schools we partner with, how crucial the work we do with students is.

Why students might come to counselling:

    • Stress and Anxiety
    • Grief and Loss
    • Depression
    • Family and Home Concerns
    • Anger Management
    • Sexuality
    • School Issues
    • Bullying
    • Fears and Phobias
    • Self Harm
    • Confidence and Self Esteem

The two types of service we offer:

1. Qualified Service – A qualified counsellor will to come in to your school and work with students and/or staff to offer either 1:1 counselling sessions or group sessions.

2. Trainee Service – Trainee counsellors who are either still in training and or working towards their accreditation, will come in and offer students and/or staff 1:1 counselling sessions.

We provide all of our counsellors with DBS checks, insurance, supervision and ongoing CPD training specific to working with young people across the years. They also have constant access to clinical and administration support from London Young Counselling.
